The
Patrol units (uniformed deputies) are responsible for the day-to-day
patrolling of the county, answering complaints, serving civil process,
criminal warrants, and responding to crime scenes and crimes in
progress. Patrol officers often provide back-up for the five city
police departments in Giles County.
In
addition, the Sheriff's Department provides deputies as school resource
officers for Richland and Giles County High Shools.
The Sheriff's Department has 31 sworn deputy positions.
